My Name is John Hammond

"My name is John Hammond and I am the owner of InGen. I am also making an animal park called Jurassic Park, and I know for sure that it will get me a lot of money because nothing has ever been made like this before."

"I am spending millions of dollars for the park, computers, scientists, and especially for the dinosaurs and their needs. There's Wu the genetist, Arnold the engineer, Harding the vet, Ed the manager, and Muldoon the park warden."

"I've just found out that Bob Morris, a lawyer for the EPA, has been asking everyone questions about me. What is wrong with him? I haven't been doing anything dangerous. Everything is in control. I'd better call Alan Grant, the paleontologist who works for me. I'm sure he'll be interested."

"This is great news. Alan and Ellie Sattler, a paleobotanist, are coming tomorrow evening. They're going to check if the park is safe enough, and I need their opinion quickly. Alan said something interesting; in Costa Rica, there have been recent reports of a lizard-like creature attacking children and babies. Alan is sure that it is a compy that lived more than 200 million years ago. I have told Grant that Isla Nublar is just a hotel resort and animal park, and I'm lucky he doesn't know the truth."

On the Way to Isla Nublar

"We have just taken off from San Francisco airport on my private plane. I'm sitting here with Donald Gennaro, who is my lawyer, and I could assure him not only that there aren't any problems at all on Isla Nublar, but also that we would be making a lot of money."

"I explained that I had made 238 dinosaurs, with the help of Dr.Wu, of course, that there are resorts to stay in, and the most modern and the best computers to control everything."

"I introduced Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler to Gennaro when my plane landed in Choteau late in the afternoon. After a few hours, we stopped again at the Dallas airport to meet Professor Malcolm, who is a very famous mathematician and studies some theory called the chaos theory, and introduced himself to Grant and Sattler."

"Everything went well at first, but then suddenly Malcolm started talking about how bad the problems on Isla Nublar could get, and advised me to close it. He brought a copy of a letter he sent to InGen 5 years ago. It made me lose my temper. How could he not see that everything was going on perfectly fine? We have stopped at Jurassic Park, and I'll show him what a good idea this is."

The Park

"Early on Friday morning, we finally landed in San Jose, Costa Rica. Grant, Ellie, Malcolm, Gennaro, and I all got into my helicopter to fly to Isla Nublar, which is 160 km away. Nedry, the computer expert, went on the helicopter with us. I had paid his company to fix the problems on my computer systems, because somehow they were making mistakes."

"Less than an hour later, we arrived at the island. It was an amazing place; throughout Isla Nublar, which was around 60km square, there were thick forests, steep cliffs, but was mostly covered by a thick layer of fog. We landed on one of the 600m high hills on the northern part of the island. We met Ed Regis, my publicity manager. He welcomed the visitors, and  Grant, Ellie, and Malcolm were very impressed by everything when they saw the huge apatosaurs. I told Ed to bring Grant and Ellie to the Safari Lodge at the bottom of the hill, where we would all be staying."

"At the Visitor's Centre, near the Safari Lodge, Gennaro showed them the exhibition and asked them questions about the island's safety. Gennaro and Grant are getting me into a lot of trouble by being so suspicious. Gennaro got Grant to think that my animals have escaped and are in Costa Rica, attacking children. This is getting annoying."

"My grandchildren, Tim and Lex Murphy, have arrived. Lex said hi to me, and I introduced them both to everyone, telling Gennaro that they have come to spend the weekend there. Gennaro got angry at me and started talking rubbish about the dangers of Jurassic Park. I'd rather go back to the Safari Lodge than listen to all this nonsense. I said that I would meet them at dinner, and I ordered Regis to take them on a tour of the island. It's such a headache listening to the complaints of all these people like Malcolm and Gennaro."

Making a Dinosaur

"I don't really care about how to make a dinosaur, just as long as it's made and my park is successful, I'm fine. But I do know some main important steps to make one."

"John Arnold is my chief engineer, Robert Muldoon is my old park warden who takes care of the dinosaurs, Dr.Harding is the vet, and Henry Wu is our chief genetist who knows all about the genetic engineering of the dinosaurs we make here."

"I buy a lot of amber because it is useful to  get dinosaur DNA. Millions of years ago, insects were caught in the sticky sap that has now hardened. Dr.Wu extracted some blood out of the fly stuck in the amber and the blood contains DNA of animals that lived many years ago. My expensive Cray XMP supercomputers do the rest of the work like pairing the broken pieces of DNA, and telling what chains to fill."

"After the holes in the DNA chains are filled with another animal's DNA, we would put the dinosaur embryos into special kinds of eggs in the FERTILIZATION ROOM, where they hatch and live in the NURSERY as babies. We must make the dinosaurs because I don't want my dinosaurs breeding by only making female animals. Everything is going on very well. I think Jurassic Park was a perfect idea."

The Control Room

"I will show you how I am able to control Jurassic Park. The secret lies in the Control Room. My special computers can show a map of the whole island and the movements of every single dinosaur for the last 24 hours. It also counts the animals every 15 minutes to make sure none of my animals aren't dead or lost. It can recognize different species of dinosaurs too. It is a very accurate system."

"There are sensors mostly in 92% of the park. It is a very safe security system, and there are deep moats and extremely powerful electric fences to stop the dinosaurs from escaping. However, if the dinosaurs do manage to get out, even if that is impossible, we have all kinds of guns to catch them and bring them back. Since the dinosaurs are very very expensive and difficult to make, I don't want to kill the dinosaurs, I only want to make them sleep for a while until I can get them."

"Now I've made it very clear to everyone that Jurassic Park has no problems at all. The real problems are those stubborn people like Wu, Arnold, Muldoon, and especially Nedry. I really don't understand them. I've given Dr.Wu such a great job, but now he wants to destroy his own creation that he has been working on for 5 years. He says that they are too intelligent and fast, but who would want to come and see them if they are slow and stupid?"

"Dr.Arnold is also complaining about the dangerous behavior of the dinosaurs, and what they might do if this happens or that happens. He should mind his own business. He's an engineer, after all. Muldoon is another headache. He wants to destroy the raptors, but what's so wrong with them? I find them very fascinating myself. I know many workmen have been killed already, but nothing is perfect, and all zoos have bigger problems than this."

"And now Nedry. I wonder what he is doing now. Maybe something useless, even if he is supposed to fix the bugs on my computwer system. I hate him, and I'm sure he hates me too. Every time I must talk to him, he argues with me about paying his company more money. No one can stand him. I have nothing wrong with Ellie, Alan, and Gennaro, but Malcolm is driving me crazy with all his talk of "chaos theory." I'll prove him wrong. In 4 years' time, I'll open Jurassic Park Europe and Jurassic Park Japan. Just wait and see."

Power Off

"I don't know what has happened. The lights and screens are all off and nothing's working, but the computers are still working. Muldoon and the rest of us here don't know either. We're in the control room now, and Mr.Arnold says that all the sensors, cameras, and electric fences are off too."

"The land-cruisers have stopped somewhere near the tyrannosaurs' enclosure. Since the radio link isn't working, Dr.Wu can't use the walkie-talkie to talk to them. Now Nedry is gone. Just when we need his help, he disappears. Muldoon will take the jeep and go search for him. He says it isn't safe to walk in the park anymore."

"I just realized this. If the electric fences aren't working properly, Tim and Lex aren't safe, especially with that T-rex running free. But that's not my main concern; what if the Rex gets the other dinosaurs? Wu is back. He says that he can't find Nedry anywhere, and that each one of the 15 species from the FERTILIZATION ROOM is gone. Since the jeep's gone too, I suppose it must be Biosyn Corporation that is paying Nedry. If I must get this park back under control, Arnold will have to listen to me. I told him firmly to get control of the park, but all he could answer was to order me to go get a cup of coffee in the cafe. He'd better be done when I get back."

Battling With Dinosaurs

"Finally, Arnold has fixed the power. They're all on now, and almost all the animals have been found and are already put in their own enclosures. However, both the young and adult tyrannosaurs are roaming somewhere in the sauropods' enclosure, the computer says. This is so confusing, and even I don't know what to do. If we leave it there, it will start killing all the sauropods. And I don't want Muldoon killing it either. If only we had the tranquillizer rockets and guns, but they're with Nedry, and nobody has even the slightest idea where Nedry might be. Muldoon is going along with Gennaro, my lawyer, and brought some darts, but I know that is not enough to stop the rex. But what else can we do?"

"Arnold has just found Nedry and the jeep. Nedry is dead. Probably some dinosaur killed him, but luckily for us, Muldoon and Gennaro can get the tranquillizer guns and rockets. Arnold and I can now see the adult rex. It was very close to Muldoon and Gennaro, and Arnold warned them to head back to the Safari Lodge."

"We're back in the control room. I can't see the adult rex anymore. Muldoon and Gennaro are not here yet, and it has been a long time. Where is it? Did it get them? Wait, here it is. It's near the huge waterfall, and it looks pretty strange to me, with its head in the water and all that unsteady movement. It is falling, and now it is lying down on its side by the pool. Muldoon said that he hit it with 2 tranquilizer darts, and it seems like Jurassic Park might be in control again. Malcolm was definitely wrong, but suddenly a flashing message appeared on the screen, saying, "EMERGENCY POWER LOW." Suddenly all the lights and screens went off again. Gennaro, Wu, and Arnold are talking about things I don't understand, and suddenly Gennaro glared angrily at me after hearing Wu say that the raptors might be loose. They all walked out of the room with 6 tranquillizer darts in the direction of the generator. But they haven't returned. Arnold still hasn't turned the power on. Gennaro is going to get inside the building. I'm going to the Safari Lodge."

"Malcolm is here, and was badly injured by the Rex. Ellie said that Harding had already given him some morphine, but he would die if he wasn't taken to the hospital immediately. Malcolm looked straight at me and said something like, "I told you the park wouldn't work. Now look what you've done." I didn't feel guilty at all, after all, all I had done was make an animal park. Malcolm accused and blamed me some more about fooling around with science. As I argued with Malcolm, I suddenly heard Tim's voice in the walkie-talkie and Muldoon told Tim to please try getting the computer system working again, and quickly, because it was only 13 more minutes until the ship arrived in San Jose. Furthermore, raptors were biting the windows around the roof, and unless the bars are electrified agian, everyone would be caught by the raptors."

"Grant and Gennaro are back with my grandchildren. Tim touched many things on the computer, and the power was on. Gennaro talked to the captain of the supply ship, and somehow he could talk him into turning back. Then Gennaro called some more people and arranged for helicopters to come pick up everyone and bomb the island. I could see the carnivores killing and eating the herbivores on the screens. It isn't really as bad as it seems. My work is still safe. I hid many more dinosaur embryos in a secret place in the USA. I could buy any new island and start my business all over again."

Compys

"Grant, Ellie, Muldoon, and Gennaro went to find the dinosaur eggs, so since I had nothing to do, I walked to the Safari Lodge to wait for the helicopters. I started imagining and thinking what the next Jurassic Park will be like."

"I am very bored. There is nothing I can do now over here. It's already the end of the afternoon, and soon it will be dark. It's really quiet. Nothing's out there, so I'm sure it must be safe enough already. Everything would be alright now. I'm going to go walk around the path and out into the park."

"I just heard a T-rex roar. That's strange. Why is it out of its enclosure? I'm a little nervous now. I think I see the shadows of the Rex in the bushes. It's stalking me! I'm running as fast as I can. I don't care where I'm going, as long as I'm away from the T-rex. I ended up in the forest. It's much darker, and the ground is a  bit slippery because of the thick mud, and I can't really see where I'm going. I lost my footing, and now I'm rolling down the hill. There is a terrible pain in my right foot. I think it must be broken. It is too painful to move. What can I do? I'll just have to stay here until somebody comes to help me, unless the Rex gets me first."

"The Rex is roaring again. Now I'm really frightened. If the Rex got me, what would it do? I can't climb the hill. The best option is to wait for the Rex to go, and then call for help. Then suddenly I heard Lex 's voice over the loudspeaker, and then another roar. Lex and Tim! I should have known. What are they doing playing in the control room? But I was still scared, so I started shouting for anybody to come, but after an hour, no one even bothered to check on me. I gave up waiting and tried to climb back up the hill to find a path back to the Safari Lodge. But after a very long time, I still hadn't climbed the hill, and I was thirsty, hot, and extremely tired."

"Then suddenly I heard some weird squeaking noises and a small green animal came to me, with many others following it from the back. I recognized them at once-they were compys. If I'm not wrong, they are very poisonous and were fatal to people. I'm terrified. What should I do? I tried throwing rocks at it, but all it did was squeak and it didn't back away. I made a last effort to climb the hill again, but the compys started jumping all over me one by one, around my back neck, head, legs, and arms. I felt I was falling asleep, and I can't remember the rest."
